Why Adopt?
Cost: Think getting a "free" pet
is cheaper? For a cat, your cost for shots and spaying/neutering would
be $175 to $200. For a dog, it would be $195 to $235, depending on
the age of the animal.
It
saves lives: Nationally, almost 50% of all cats and dogs
entering shelters are euthanized. Our adoption rates are very closed to
90%. Save a life with love - Adopt!
The adoption process: If you are
interested in adopting an animal, the first step in the process is to
fill out an application form. You must be at least 21 years old and have
your landlord's permission to have a pet. Processing of the application
takes at least 3 or 4 working days. You will be notified as soon as all
reference calls have been completed and your application has been
reviewed by a member of the WAHS Board.
The
adoption fee: The adoption
fee for mixed breed animals is $85.00 for cats and $100.00 for dogs. The fee for purebred
animals starts at $125. A deposit of $100 is required for
animals that are not old enough to have been spayed or neutered prior to
adoption. The deposit will be refunded after the spay or neuter surgery
has been done.
