Why Adopt?
Cost: Think getting a "free" pet
is cheaper? For a cat, your cost for shots and spaying or neutering would
be $175 to $200. For a dog, it would be $195 to $235, depending on
the age of the animal.
It
saves lives: Nationally, almost 50% of all cats and dogs
entering shelters are euthanized. Our adoption rates are very close to
90%. Save a life with love - Adopt!
The application: If you are
interested in adopting an animal, the first step in the process is to
fill out an application form. You must be at least 21 years old and have
your landlord's permission to have a pet.
|
Processing of the application takes at
least 3 or 4 working days. You will be notified as soon as all reference
calls have been completed and your application has been reviewed by a
member of the WAHS Board.
Adoption fees: The adoption
fee for kittens is $95.00. The fee for cats over 1 year old is $80.00.
The adoption fee for puppies is $125.00. The fee for dogs over a year
old is $100.00. If old enough, the animal will be spayed or
neutered before they go to their new home. A deposit of $100 is required for
animals that are not old enough to have been spayed or neutered prior to
adoption. The deposit will be refunded after the animal has been
returned for surgery.
